Variant spelling of surname iare "Patterson" and Patteson". BPLH Card Notes record that he accompanied brother, Edward, when he returned to Boston from Ireland in 1740 with Noah, Anne and Jennie. He was associated with his brother in 1740; then left to become blacksmith in area now known as New Britain. May have made tools for his brother, Edward.
In April, 1762 he and wife, Sarah, joined Kensington Congregational [Christian Lane] Church from New Britain, In 1764 and 1766, William was on Church Committees.
One William lived on East St., New Britain.
