Card catalog notes: Abraham Beckley built a house at 979 Wethersfield Rd., Berlin, CT, ca.1730. It was originally thought to have been built by his grandfather, Sargent Richard Beckley, but there is evidence that this house was in fact built by Abraham Beckley. First of two houses built by him and sold to Aaron Porter in 1778. Second of the houses was given to him by brother Nathaniel after he died and was probably built by Abraham ca. 1723 and is no longer in existence.
Wife may have been Elizabeth Beckley, d. Nov. 23, 1765, buried in Beckley Cemetery and referred to in epitaph as the Widow Beckley, but cannot verify with this library's records--cataloger's note.
Infant child, unnamed, died 1765/02/07 |
