Variant spelling "Pattison". Tinsmith. Succeeded his father in business with brother, Edward Jr.. He bulit a large tin shop and made great quantities of tinware which were carried in wagons to Canada where sold in exchange for furs. Became partner with son-in-law, Peck. John Jacob Astor was companion on some Canadian trips. Brought furs back to Berlin and girls from Newington and all about made it into muffs and other articles in the shop.; also dealt in spun yarn. Shop most northerly building . 1825 - 1835 listing - forks, spoons, teacups, etc. Shubael died at age 64 years on trip to NY. Had largest funeral in town.
