John died at age 71 at home. He had lived at 12 Cedarwood Road, Kensington. He graduated from Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) in 1944 with a B.S. degree in Accounting and from John Marshall Law School in 1947. He was a charter member of Delta Upsilon Chapter of Tau Kappa Upsilon Fraternity. He was employed by SB Martin Company in Cleveland until 1971.
He was Ass't to the President of Goss & DeLeeuw Machine Company in Berlin until his retirement in January 1991. He was a member of Kensington Congregational Church; Willoughby Lodge #745 A.F.& A.M.in Willoughby, Ohio; and Bucks 'n Does Square Dance Club in Kensington where he served as president for four years. He managed a children's bowling league in Bainbridge, Ohio for ten years.
He was survived by his wife Dottie (Dorothea Montgomery] ; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Melon Abell of Rutland, VT and Scott and Cindy Abell of Bath, OH; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Dave Cusik of Concord, OH; a sister, Ruth Abell, of Euclid, OH; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service was at Kensington Congregational Church. Calling hours at Porter's Funeral Home in Kensington. Memorial donations to Kensington Congregational Church's Building Fund.
