Rita lived on Ox Yoke Drive, Kensington. She graduated from New Britain High School in 1964. and moved to East Berlin in 1967 and later to Kensington, where she lived for 28 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the East Berlin Fire Department. She was a mentor to various youth groups, including the Camp Fire Girls and Camp Fire Boys. She died at home at age 52 years after a 12 year battle with breast cancer. Survivors included her husband, Dean; a daughter Michelle of New Britain; a son , Scott of Berlin; a sister and her husband, Cynthia and Robert Chasser of Middletown; two brothers and their wives, Anthony Gunterman Jr. and Rena of Bristol, and Jack and Judy Gunterman of Litchfield; a brother-in-law and his wife, Neil Boissoneau and Debbie Platt; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Cheryl Boissoneau and Brace Gobi; her mother-in-law and her husband, Violette and John Lyth; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at Porter's Funeral Home, Kensington and a Funeral Liturgy at St. Paul's Church. Contributions to Central Connecticut Hospice, Plainville or to Peck Memorial Library, Berlin.
