1 Joseph died at age 79 at New Britain General Hospital after a long illness. He was a naïve of New Britain, moving to Kensington in 1992. Joseph graduated from New Britain High School. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Navy aboard the USS Oakland in the Pacific. He had worked in the garment industry for many years and at A&S Package Store on Carlton St. in New Britain. He retired from Greater Hartford Community College as a stationary engineer in 1998. He had served as Veterans Commissioner for the City of New Britain for 20 years. He was a member of the Bernadino Badalato Post, VFW Post 511 and the Italian Political Independent Club in Berlin. He golfed with the Timberlin Seniors in Berlin. He served as Master of Ceremonies for many years at the New Britain Memorial Day Parade. He and his wife, Josephine volunteered for 13 years at the Jefferson House Nursing Home in Newington. He was a member of St. Paul Church in Kensington. He was survived by his wife, Josephine [Briganti] Borselle; two daughters, Elaine Borselle of Berlin and Grace [Borselle] Surdyka of Westerly, RI; two grandchildren, Jill Elaine Surdyka and Andrew Joseph Surdyka both of Westerly; two sisters, Jackie Timko and Lena Jortner and her husband, Hymie of Berlin. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Borselle. Funeral services and calling hours were at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home in Kensington. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church, Kensington.
