Shirley died at age 70 at her home on Woodruff Lane, Kensington. She had resided in Kensington for 43 years. She was formerly employed by New Britain National Bank as a Customer Service Representative in the Kensington Office, having retired 6 years prior to her death. She was a member of Kensington Congregational Church and was a member of the Diaconate and served as Church Treasurer for 27 years. She was a former choir member at the Church and a past president of the Monday Night Club.
She was survived by her husband, Robert A. Anderson; a son, Stephen Anderson of Kensington; a daughter, Candace [Anderson] Montesi of New Milford; two brothers, Robert Capen of Palm Bay, Florida, and Donald Capen of East Granby; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service held at Kensington Congregational Church. No calling hours and burial was at convenience of the family. Memorial donations to Kensington Congregational Church or to the Hospice of Greater NewBritain. Erickson-Hansen & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
