1 Eighth son of Daniel and Sarah [White] Wilcox. He was an apprentice of J. and E. North Co. which was later associated with Franklin Roys of Roys & Wilcox in Southington. During 1771, he founded East Berlin carding mill with Benjamin Wilcox and Daniel Wilcox. Performed carding and spinning wool and cotton thread. Created a cottage industry whereby thread was sent out to neighboring households where it was woven into blankets and cloth. Other owner was George Sage, Jr.. Josiah made fine cider and brandy. He made tools for S. Stow Manufacturing Co.. He owned but did not occupy 1157 Mill Street, East Berlin, which was built in 1800 by Joseph R. Wilcox. Josiah lived at 410 Main Street, East Berlin; house built c. 1775. He was veteran of the Revolutionary War; served in the New Haven Alarm division. He was a fifer. He joined Berlin Congregational Church between 1802 and 1812. Josiah married 1st Elizabeth Treat; mar. 2nd Huldah Savage; and mar. 3rd Naomi Kirby.
