Died at age 73 years. Was a 1959 graduate of Teacher's College of New Britain (CCSU) and received advanced degrees in social studies and guidace at the University of Connecticut. He taught in the Manchester School System for 24 years, retiring in 1983 as head guidance counselor at Illing Junior High School. In WW II he served at Normandy and in the Rhineland and Ardennes in Central Europe. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in New Britain serving as President of the Church Council, as a member of the Men's Club and as chairman of numerous committees. Several major church renovation projects were completed under his leadership. Served on the Board of Directors of St. Vladimir's Theological Seminary Foundation in Scarsdale, NY. Was often a church delegate at diocesan and national meetings of the Orthodox Church in America. Member of the Berlin VFW and a founding member of the former Civitan Club.
In additionn to his wife, survivors include his brothers Louis Camarata, and Michael Camarata and a sister Mary Mercureo, alll of New Britain; and several nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews and many Godchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Carl. Funeral services at Burrit Hill Funeral Home. Burial service at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church. Burial with military honors. A Panihida Service was also held. Donations to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church or to the Hospice Visiting Nurses Association.
