Grow Your Own Salad
Have you ever wanted to grow your own salad greens? Are you interested in gardening, but have a small space?
Join us to learn more about square foot gardening, a term coined by Mel Bartholomew, to describe gardening in a small space.
Jeff McNally has been using this method for decades to plan gardens full of beautiful and tasty salad ingredients. He will share how to divide your plot, place your seeds, and determine companion planting.
Square Foot Gardening
Square foot gardening is a simple and orderly system based on 1 foot x 1 foot squares (that’s why it’s called “square foot” gardening!) Each square is planted with a different crop, encouraging a variety of different veggies and a continual harvest.
Planting crops close together in a grid can also help form a living mulch, prevent weeds, and even provide natural insect repellent through companion planting. Plus, the small size makes it easier to build covers, trellises, and cages to protect your plants.
