2nd Annual Poetry & Art Exhibit
This Spring, we’ll be hosting a multi-generational poetry and art exhibit on the theme of growing!
February 27, 2024
This Spring, the Berlin-Peck Library will be hosting a multi-generational poetry and art exhibit on the theme of growing! Artwork submitted by patrons and inspired by the theme will be assigned to a poet anonymously. The poet will then write a poem inspired by the piece of art they have been assigned. On the evening of the reception, we will celebrate both the poem and the artwork that inspired it! There will be an opportunity to participate in both the call for poetry and art. We are thrilled to offer this program to people of all ages!
The theme of this year’s poetry/art show is growing! There are many different ways to think about this theme: growing up, the growing of plants, growing of emotions. Sometimes growing brings joy and relief, other times sorrow. Your artwork should be inspired by growing but only use that as a jumping-off point! Feel free to go where your creative mind leads you!
Deadline for Art Submissions: March 1, 2024
Artwork Submission Form (hand this in with your artwork)
Your art will be displayed in the library and must follow certain guidelines: Your work can be created using any medium including photography and will be hung in the meeting room. Artwork should be appropriate for display to a wide audience. Librarians reserve the right to use their discretion for display. Please include the artwork submission form. You may also enter to write a poem for an art piece another artist created! Art should be submitted to the Children’s or Adult Reference Desk.
Your poem will be inspired by a piece of artwork. While the theme of the show is “growing,” your poem should be inspired specifically by the artwork, however you interpret it! Please submit your interest by submitting the Poetry Interest Form online by March 1, 2024.
