The 29th Connecticut is a short documentary film about the eleven African-American soldiers who enlisted from Berlin, Connecticut, during the American Civil War. The 29th Regiment of United States Colored Troops, formed just after Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, fought in critical battles near the end of the war and helped to secure freedom from enslavement for all United States citizens.

The 29th Connecticut was produced by the Wide Awake Film Company and the BEAT Berlin Civil War Heroes Project. It was recently nominated for Best Documentary Short at the Mystic Film Festival.

Join us after the documentary to ask questions at the audience Q&A session.

Sponsored by The Berlin Historical Society in conjunction with BEAT (Berlin Equity Action Team).
