Storyteller Monica Peterson brings the history, humor, and magic of the Irish people to life in this fascinating program.
Dressed in costume and featuring photos and artifacts that complement
the stories, Monica tells of:
- The Pirate Queen: The true story of Irish chieftain and pirate Grace O’Malley and how she successfully negotiated with Queen Elizabeth I of England, woman to woman.
- The School Mistress and the Giant: A brave schoolteacher must outwit a giant in order to save her student.
- Uncle Bucky: An Irish American’s gift of blarney helps him survive World War II.
Sponsored by Friends of the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library.
About the Presenter
Monica Peterson weaves vivid tales for audiences, young and old, offering both fascinating, historical sagas and timeless folklore.
Monica performs her historical programming while dressed in costume and featuring photos and artifacts that complement the tales. Some of these programs laud local women whose courage helped win the American Revolution, while other shows honor the immigrant experience, famous presidents, and people who triumphed over racial injustice. Monica also presents folktales that celebrate holidays and seasons in a non-sectarian, inclusive, and wildly entertaining way.
