Study Rooms

Policies > Study Rooms

Purpose

  • The study rooms are provided for the use of quiet study by small groups or individuals.

Procedures

  • Patrons using the study rooms should sign up at the Reference Desk.
  • Usage of the study room is on a first come-first serve basis.
  • Study rooms may be reserved at the Reference Desk for one week in advance – in person or by telephone (860-828-7125) at the Reference Desk.

Behavior

  • Group Study Rooms can accommodate up to 4 people.
  • Noise should be held to a reasonable level, as rooms are not soundproof.
  • Rooms should be left in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Behavior policy violations or inappropriate behavior will result in expulsion from the Study Rooms or the library at the discretion of the library staff and may result in being denied future use of the rooms.
  • Doors to the study rooms may not be locked.
  • A vacated room will be considered abandoned after 10 minutes and available to the next user.

Lost Items

  • All items left in the room will be put in the Lost and Found.

Time

  • A study room can only be reserved 1 week in advance.
  • Patrons may use a Study room, for 2 hours per day.
  • Usage by any person may be extended if no other party needs to use the study room.
  • Library study rooms may be used during normal library operating hours, up to 10 minutes prior to closing.
  • A vacated room will be considered abandoned after 10 minutes and available to the next user.
  • If a patron with a reservation comes in and all of the study rooms are in use, then
    1. a patron who has not signed in will be asked to relinquish the room
    2. otherwise, the person who signed in earliest may be asked to relinquish a study room
