Board Games

Board games promote literacy, critical thinking skills, provide an interactive experience—and best of all, they're fun!

Why play board games?

Of course… because they’re fun! But board games are more than just fun—they promote literacy, encourage critical thinking skills, and provide a fun interactive experience for friends and family.

Board games come in many shapes, styles, and age ranges. The Library currently has a large collection of family-friendly games in the Children’s Department, and a small but growing collection of more complex games in the Adult Department. There are no age restrictions for either collection.

Donate

Looking to clear some space in your board game shelf? Send those games our way! You can drop off donations at the front desk. Please make sure all of the pieces are included. Call (860) 828-7125 or email library@berlinpeck.org with any questions.

Borrowing Limits

Board games can be borrowed just like books. You can even place holds in the online catalog!

  • 3 week loan period
  • 2 renewals
  • Must be picked up and returned in person to Berlin-Peck
  • Cannot be returned in book drop

Loss or Damage

Borrowers will be charged for lost, dirty, or damaged items. Because we want to keep items in good working order, they cannot be returned in the book drop. If the item is returned in the book drop, the borrower will be held responsible for the damage and the replacement cost.

To prevent damage, DO NOT return this item in the book drop.

Missing Pieces

Missing pieces can ruin the game! Please check (and double-check) that every item is back in the box before closing it with the rubber band provided by the library. After a board game is returned, circulation staff count every piece to make sure nothing is missing. It is not always possible to replace individual game pieces. We will try our best to source replacement pieces, but if it is not possible, you may be responsible for the full cost of the game.

You may be charged the full price of the game if pieces are missing.

Replacement Cost Cost of the game pieces (if possible) or full replacement game (if individual pieces are unavailable)
