October 7, 2020
As the state of Connecticut enters Phase 3 of reopening on October 8, the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library will be making a few changes.
May 19, 2021 UPDATE: All unvaccinated visitors must wear masks inside the library. Though state mask mandates have been updated as of 5/19/21, we ask that all patrons continue to wear masks inside our building out of consideration for children visiting the library (children under 12 cannot currently be vaccinated for COVID-19).
Browsing: The Library is eliminating appointments for browsing and invites patrons to come for a quick (under an hour) visit anytime during normal hours.
Newspapers: There will be a chair set up for newspaper and magazine reading inside the building.
Wi-Fi: The Library has installed extra Wi-Fi access points to enable a stronger signal outside of the building, reaching further into the parking lot on the left side of the building. Wi-Fi hotspots are also available for lending. Keep them in mind if your internet goes down or when traveling.
What’s the same?
For public safety purposes, masks are required for entry and building capacity will be monitored.
While children’s toys and games have been temporarily removed and adult seating areas remain unavailable, the library continues to provide numerous services, including personalized reading recommendations, children’s and teen book bundles and Grab & Go kits, craft kits for adults, homebound delivery, a puzzle exchange, downloadable eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, streaming videos and virtual programming.
Computers: Available for one-hour appointments by reservation.
Study rooms: Available for two-hour appointments by reservation, for those who need a quiet study area or space to take an exam.
Curbside pickup: Will continue for the foreseeable future. It will eventually relocate to the lobby when the weather deteriorates.
Senior hours: Will continue on Wednesday and Friday mornings, 9:00 am–10:00 am.
