When shopping for an internet service provider (ISP), keep an eye out for surprise charges:

  • Plans that promise low introductory pricing, but raise the pricing later
  • Plans that charge a fee for physical hardware, like routers or cable boxes
  • Additional charges in the “fine print”

Safelink Wireless
Get a free smartphone, free unlimited talk & text, and free mobile data.

  • You can qualify through your income.
    You can get Safelink if your income is 135% or less than the federal poverty guidelines. The guideline is based on your household size and state.
  • You can qualify through federal assistance programs.
    You can get Safelink if you (or someone in your household) participates in one of these federal assistance programs:

    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Medicaid
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
    • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
    • Tribal Programs (and live on federally-recognized Tribal lands)

 

Internet Access Assistance

FCC Lifeline
Lifeline is a federal program that lowers the monthly cost of phone and internet. Eligible customers will get up to $9.25 toward their bill. You can only use Lifeline for either phone or internet, but not both. To get Lifeline, find a company near you.

There are two ways to qualify for Lifeline:

  • You can qualify through your income.

EveryoneOn
EveryoneOn is a nonprofit dedicated to creating social and economic opportunity by connecting low-income families to affordable internet service and computers, and delivering digital skills trainings.

PCs for People
Provides low-cost internet with mobile hotspots. Devices purchased through PCs for People are for recipients who meet our eligibility requirements only. These devices can not be resold or redistributed to individuals who are not qualified PCs for People customers.

 

Internet Providers

AT&T Access
Access from AT&T provides wireline Home Internet to limited income households who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Spectrum Internet Assist
One or more members of your household must be a recipient of National School Lunch Program (NSLP), Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the NSLP, or Supplemental Security Income (for applicants age 65+ only).

Comcast Internet Essentials
Apply today if you qualify for programs like the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), housing assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, SSI or others.

Cox Connect2Compete
New Cox customers with at least one K–12 student in household who qualifies for public assistance programs.

Frontier Lifeline Discount Program
